Roy and Pat Davey, 1956.
Roy and Pat Davey studied at B.I. in 1955 – 1956 and began working at Rusitu Mission station in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in May 1957. Roy was station maintenance man and Pat was bookkeeper-treasurer. They learned the Chindau language. Roy later became headmaster of Biriiri Secondary School and Pat was school nurse and ran clubs for women and girls, teaching sewing and knitting. She also ran a Bible memorisation course for them to memorize 100 Bible verses with references in order to earn a Chindau Bible. After teaching maths and Health Science at Treverton School in Mooi River, Roy became the S.A. Home Director for A.E.F. which later was amalgamated with S.I.M.
At 87 and 83 years of age we are enjoying our twilight years in East London.
As we look back over the years we constantly praise the Lord for His leading in our lives and provision of our needs. It has been a wonderful privilege to serve our Lord all the years of our married lives. When we were on our way to Rhodesia we often sang a duet `Take up thy cross and follow me ….how can I make a lesser sacrifice when Jesus gave His all.’ A favourite verse has always been Galatians 2: 20 `I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ lives in me.’
Rejoicing in the love of Jesus and looking forward to our Heavenly Home.
